Frequently Asked Questions
Is my dive data stored in the cloud?
No. Your dive logs, sites, certifications, and instructor data are stored locally on your device in a SQLite database. Only optional community features (buddy collaboration, discovery listings) use cloud storage.
Do I need an account to use Thalos?
No. Thalos works fully offline without any account. For optional community features, the app uses an anonymous device identifier — no email or password required.
Can I trust the dive calculators for real dive planning?
Thalos calculators (including the Buhlmann ZHL-16C decompression planner) are for reference and educational purposes. Always use a certified dive computer as your primary decompression device and dive within the limits of your training. See our Terms of Service for the full disclaimer.
How do I back up my dive data?
Dive data is stored locally on your device. It is included in your standard iCloud device backup. We recommend keeping iCloud backup enabled to protect against device loss.
What dive computers can I import from?
Thalos supports FIT file import from Garmin dive computers. Open a .FIT file from Files or email, and Thalos will parse and import the dive profile data.
How does the Emergency mode work offline?
Emergency mode reads all data (contacts, EAPs, procedures) from the local SQLite database. It works with no internet connection. Phone dial buttons use your device's native phone app.
How do I delete a community listing I posted?
When you create a community listing (class, trip, or dive center), you receive a claim code. Use this code in the listing detail screen to delete your listing at any time.
Is Thalos free?
Yes. Thalos is free with no ads, no subscriptions, and no in-app purchases.
