Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Thalos ("the App") is a scuba dive logging, planning, and safety application. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

2. Data Stored Locally

The majority of your data never leaves your device. The following is stored in a local SQLite database on your phone:

• Dive log entries, versions, and signatures
• Custom dive sites and emergency action plans (EAPs)
• Instructor module data (students, courses, skill sign-offs, paperwork)
• Personal certifications and medical/ICE information
• App preferences and settings

This data is not transmitted to any server unless you explicitly use the optional cloud features described below.

3. Optional Cloud Features (Supabase)

Thalos offers optional community features (buddy collaboration, community discovery) powered by Supabase. When you use these features:

• Anonymous device ID: A random identifier is used to associate your contributions. We do not require accounts, email addresses, or passwords.
• Community listings: If you post a class, trip, or dive center listing, the information you provide is stored on Supabase and visible to other users.
• Collaboration sessions: Dive buddy sessions (names, social handles, shared media) are stored on Supabase and automatically expire after 30 days.

4. Location Data

Thalos may request access to your device location ("When In Use" only) to show nearby dive sites. Location data is used on-device to compute distances and is not transmitted to our servers or any third party.

5. Camera and Photos

Thalos may request access to your camera and photo library to attach media to dive logs and collaboration sessions. Photos are stored locally or uploaded to Supabase only when you explicitly share them in a collaboration session.

6. Bluetooth (BLE)

Thalos may request Bluetooth access to import dive data from compatible dive computers. BLE data is processed on-device and is not transmitted externally.

7. Analytics and Advertising

Thalos does not include any analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking pixels. We do not track your usage, sell your data, or share it with third parties for advertising purposes.

8. Data Retention

• Local data: Retained until you delete it or uninstall the app.
• Collaboration sessions: Automatically deleted 30 days after creation.
• Community listings: Retained until the listing owner deletes them.

9. Children's Privacy

Thalos is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
